The word “Doula” comes from a Greek word meaning “Woman' servant”. Doulas are trained, non-medical professionals who provide continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to women before, during and after childbirth, to facilitate the best possible birth experience.
Unfortunately, some doctors do not have the bandwidth to have deep one-on-one relationships with their pregnant patients. Because of this, it’s not uncommon for a woman to feel alone in the stream of internet scrolling to find answers about the way her body is changing.
As a certified Doula and an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, I will provide an emotional and physical support to you and your partner before, during and after pregnancy. I will soothe the postpartum period, I will make sure you, your partner and your baby feel supported and taken care of during the most precious, yet challenging times of your lives.
Aa a Doula, I get closely involved with my clients. Depending on the support you are looking for, I will visit you at home for prenatal visits throughout the nine months, together we will discuss doctor's appointments, I will offer to you all of my Health Coaching knowledge and we will talk through any concerns you might have. When the time comes, I will be there for labor support for you and will alleviate emotional stress for the partner as well. Once the baby is here, I will provide my support through the postpartum period. I will make sure you, your partner and your baby feel supported and taken care of during the most precious times of your lives.
Doulas are different from midwives in that they do not have advanced medical training—rather, they have a rigorous certifications for pregnancy support. Doulas are focused on emotional support, whereas midwives typically have master’s degrees in nursing and offer more specialized one-on-one medical attention and delivery.
